Hi,

Earlier this year, we began with monthly round ups of global health jobs to understand hiring in a precipitous year for the field that saw the loss of thousands of jobs around the world.

Today we present a small analysis on what we found, based on the limited sample size of the positions were published in our newsletter. It does give an indication of the kinds of jobs and organizations that hired experts. My colleague Julia Dötzer has worked on this through the year.

II. GLOBAL HEALTH JOBS IN 2025: WHO HIRED AND WHERE?

It has been a brutal year for global health professionals. Blunt cuts in foreign aid, slashed budgets for science and research, culled thousands of jobs at multiple levels in global health across the world. Deep expertise has been lost, institutions are hollowed out. Countless committed professionals with unique careers and disciplinary journeys, have been abruptly left out of a system they were trained to serve.

Our readership comprises 7,000 global health experts across 150 countries. During the bloodbath in the sector in 2025, we gathered and curated global health positions as they became available, as a service to the community we cater to.

In April, we launched the first Geneva Health Job Scanner, and we would now like to take a moment to reflect on the types of positions we found in 2025.
