Countries will decide next week on who gets access to medical products during health emergencies, and how preparedness and response are determined in the most vulnerable contexts. The stakes are high during what could be, the final days of the nearly five year-long negotiations at the World Health Organization.
In this edition, I drafted a “PABS cheat sheet” for readers to get a quick glance on stuff to look out for in next week’s negotiations on the Pathogen Access Benefit Sharing system at the WHO.
Geneva has been buzzing with retreats, consultations and briefings. We have gleaned some information based on this intense activity that provide indications on how countries are gearing for the final round, and the persistent sticky issues in these talks. We hope you find this useful.
